Up at 8. Big day. She's making a second attempt. We sailed around to Brodick to greet Francesca from the ferry and get a flying start to Tarbert (plus avoid paying for last nights mooring - sounds bad but harbour master was a miserable git). Horrible, chilly, grey start. Picked up a mooring right by the ferry terminal and popped ashore in the dinghy for breakfast and to wait. I mentioned to the waitress that Sam was a growing lad and he ended up with 5 sausages. I just had the regulation 2. Our breakfast also featured 'black pudding'. Sam made tentative enquiries to me, as to its chemical makeup. Obviously I told it was meat based with lots of oats. He ate his, and mine. Loved it until his mum revealed the grisly truth.
Francesca turned up at 1230. She was livid that she had missed the first bus to Paisley on the basis that she couldn't understand 'what on earth' the driver was saying. Both Sam and I accused her of racism.
Lovely sail to Tarbert Dolphins, fantastic scenery, the lot. Took 3 hrs and very relaxing trip. The sun came out and all was Well. Arrived at 1800. Really picturesque village. Layed on cushions in evening sun with cold Pinot. Then to cracking fish restaurant for another dose of scallops and bacon. Gorgeous meal and great to catch up on gossip. Great day.
Off to Crinan tomorrow. Especially important as canal starting to have restrictions as of this Friday due to water shortage. Now restricted to vessels of less tan 2.2 metres draught. We are 2. Looking forward to Crinan Canal tomorrow
