Isle of Arron

Left Troon at 11. Sun was out, fair bit of wind about and the sea was 'playful" ( eg Sam felt sick). If my calculations are correct, that was the last sea crossing (just 16 miles) for the next couple of weeks. All next to land now, right through Scotland. We picked up a mooring at the 7th attempt as Sam wanted to do it. Dunno what, exactly, he was doing, leaning over the bow with a bit of rope but must have used a gallon of fuel, passing the green mooring buoy, over and over again. In the end up walked up and lassoed it ! Only got it first bloody time. Sam looked amazed. I just shrugged my shoulders like it was normal. He must think his dad is so clever.

Holy island looks lovely, just a couple of buildings and a lighthouse. if 'retreats' are your thing, this one looks a cracker ! I might return and give it a go but just need to check out if there's a pub.

After we, finally, moored Sam went for another sleep and I spent 2 hrs fixing my self steering gear. Started off quite fun, fixing stuff, but turning into a bit of a chore. I turn up
somewhere and have to fix something. Oh well, it makes the really good days seem 'gooder'.

Pottered ashore. Lovely 'toon'. Lady in co op gave us detailed directions for tomorrow's ascent of Goatfell. Also suggested we check bus timetable because buses link with twice yearly supply ferry visits ( or something like that)

Popped in pub for supper. Overlooking our boat and Holy Island. Sam managed to string a few sentences together and, all things considered, a lovely day. Ps limited phone / Internet here.
