Finally left Crinan after watching the mighty Pompey draw with a, clearly, inferior Accrington Stanley side. Used the wi fi in lounge of the Crinan Hotel, a really interesting place and worth looking up. Only a matter of time before Pompeys 'class' shines through. Fascinating sail through fast flowing, rock strewn, very deep waters. In fact, we managed the 25 miles in just on 3 hrs and, at certain points, were doing over 13 mph with the tide. Very cold. 13 degrees as opposed to 23 degrees in sunny Guildford. On the map the wavy bits indicate places where there can be 'orrible waves. The various stars, dots, crosses and yellow bits are rocks. So not like sailing from Portsmouth to Cowes.
Moored at Oban Marina which is on Kerrera Island, opposite Oban Town. There is a free ferry service so we'll pop over to explore tomorrow. Young Sam also 'smells' another golf course. Importantly, we managed to secure a booking at The Waypoint fish restaurant, as recommended to us, last night.
Great fun place complete with hen night - a load of local farmers dressed as smurfs. Food was delicious but the table was outside and the heater bulb thingy was missing. By the time we'd nicked a bit of Sams chocolate brownie ( with fudge ice cream) we were frozen to the bone.

I grew up on Mull, Alan, so you are on my home turf. Lovely to read your stories, I knew you wouldn't regret going. Oh yes, and the Court team misses your help clearing up the biscuits! Heather
